NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and State Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) said today that they have been informed by Secretary of State Tre Hargett that the Rhea County Archives will receive an archives development grant. The $4,900 grant will be used for boxes, mylar sleeves, absorene sponges, and conservation supplies for the preservation, arrangement and description of historic records.
“We are very pleased that these funds are available for this purpose,” said Sen. Yager. “The preservation of the proud history of Rhea County is a worthy cause. These funds will help in our efforts to keep our records in good condition for many generations to come. We congratulate our local officials for a successful application which we were pleased to support, and thank Secretary Hargett for recognizing the need.”
“The preservation of the proud narrative of our community is an important cause, and I was honored to have supported these efforts,” added Representative Travis. “These funds will better protect our important documents and will provide vital resources for our local archives. Congratulations to our local leaders on their efforts securing these grant dollars.”
