Yager hosting Free Grant Conference at Roane State

(NASHVILLE, TN), August 19, 2014 – State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) will host a free Grant Conference to improve the opportunities for citizens, organizations and local governments to find and tap into a wide variety of grant funds available to them. The conference will be held on Thursday, September 4th at Roane State Community College, at 276 Patton Lane in Harriman in the O’Brien Theatre from 9:00-1:00 PM.

“The conference will include many state and federal agencies that have grant opportunities available to teach attendees the tools necessary to maximize chances for obtaining funds,” said Yager. This year we have included nonprofit foundations for local non profits looking for grant sources.

The conference includes speakers from the East Tennessee Foundation, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Roane County Government Accounting Department, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Foundation Library, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Department of Tourism, and the Department of Transportation and Roane State Community College.

The conference is free of charge but all attendees must register by calling Chris Higgins at (615) 741-1449 or Joyce Nall at (865) 717-4103 or email sen.ken.yager@capitol.tn.gov

“We do not want our communities to miss any possible opportunity to receive funds that are available to us,” added Yager. “There is an art to applying for grants and I want as many local citizens, organizations, and government agencies as possible to be apprised of the best practices in this regards. The experts presenting at this conference will help us maximize our potential to help our communities tap into these funds.”
