Spring City Volleyball closes out Athens Middle

Spring City wins match in three games with 15-13 last set win

Athens, TN —  Spring City won a tough 3 game match as they secured the last game 15-13 to get the win on the road.  The Spring City Junior Varsity came up short as Athens came up with the  win after taking the third set 15-11.  With the win the Lady Bulldogs record goes to 4-1.  They play at home tonight against Rhea Middle School with matches at 5:00 and 6:00 pm.

Varsity Volleyball:

The Spring City Varsity dropped the first match 25-14 and then came back with 25-11 second match win.  That set up the final match won by Lady Bulldogs 15-13.  Athens used a 11 point service run to push a close game to 18-11 and then finished out with a win.  Int he second game, the Lady Bulldogs used their own 11 point run with Hanna Logsdon serving  to break open the game as they took a commanding 21-10 lead.  Annabella Toledo and Emily Jolley had five and three service points respectively to lead the team to win in third game.  For the night, Hannah Logsdon lead the way with 13 service points and Annabella Toledo had 8 points.

Coach Mart Shelton said, “Hannah’s(Logsdon) serve has been big for us all year.  I was very proud of the way our girls fought back without injured 8th grader Izzy Pompora.  We overcome poor play in the first game (losing 25-14) to win in the 3rd.”

Junior Varsity Volleyball:

Emma Blazer 8, Kylie Garrison 6 and Madison Hinely 5 lead the service scoring for the Lady Bulldogs in their match.  After winning first match 25-21, they lost second game 25-13.  In the third game Athens served out from 11-11 tie for the win.


8th Grade: Emma Blazer #32, Peyton Douglas #14, Darcy Holloway #10, Emily Jolley #24, Rachel Kamer #13, Hanna Logsdon #12, Savannah Moore #45 ,Chloe Peppers #23, Izzy Pompora #42, and Annabella Toledo #28.

7th Grade: Sadie Burton #00, Delanie Dodson # 9, Kylie Garrison #7, Gracie Goodwin #4, and  Breanna Wright #2.

6th Grade: Emma Broyles #21, Rachel Heimel #6, Madison Hinely #1, and  Peyton Sherril #15.
