The Spring City Scholarship Pageant Committee in conjunction with the Spring City Chamber of Commerce has set the date of March 18 for the 2017 Spring City Scholarship Pageant at the Spring City United Methodist Church Family Life Center stage.

The Scholarship Pageant is open to young ladies from birth through high school. The new Miss Spring City (high school Junior and Senior) will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used at the college of her choice.

The Jr. Miss Spring City division this year will, for the first time, include 8th graders as well as our regular high school freshmen and sophomores and will receive a $400 scholarship to be used for dual enrollment classes at Rhea County High School or at the college of her choice. Young Miss Spring City will be chosen from 5th through 7th graders and Little Miss Spring City will be chosen from 1st through 4th graders.

There will also be three divisions of newborn through kindergarten that will take place at 10 a.m. on pageant day with the 4 school age divisions starting at 6 p.m. in the evening.

There will be a free training session prior to the March 9 deadline for any contestants who turn in their application and $40 entry fee before February 20. This training session is not mandatory to win the pageant, but it may be helpful to gain stage presence and interview skills. All contestants who get in their applications by February 20 will be called at the number listed on their application to let them know when and where the training session will take place.

Applications are available at the Spring City Chamber of Commerce, Bailey Reed Motors, Spring City Municipal Building (City Hall), online at www.springcitychamberofcommerce.com and at the Rhea County High School Guidance Office.

The reigning 2016 Royalty will be visiting the Spring City Schools with applications. Completed applications may be returned to the Chamber Office Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or mailed to P.O. Box 355, Spring City, TN 37381 to arrive before the final deadline date of March 9.

Contestants appear on stage in reverse order of applications received.
