Bulldogs await Dayton City School in County Match on Thursday

September 2018

Spring City, TN —  Spring City Middle School won 20-8 over Sequatchie County to run their season record to 3-0 on Thursday night with 20-8 win over Sequatchie County.  Spring City scored on a Latron “Tank” Alloway short run in the first quarter and added an Alloway two point conversion to take 8-0 lead in the first quarter.  Alloway scored the second touchdown for the Bulldogs with six minutes left in the halt to push the Bulldog lead to 14-0, as conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Sequatchie County took the kickoff and marched down the field and then on 4th down, they were successful with a pass that resulted in a touchdown by Johnson.  The two point conversion by the quarterback tightened the Bulldogs lead to 14-8.  Bulldogs took the kickoff and pushed downfield before running out of clock at the Sequatchie fifteen yard line.

In the third quarter, it was Alloway with short run to put the Bulldogs up 20-8 in the third quarter.  Two point conversion was no good and score remained 20-8 at end of the third quarter.  Bulldogs moved the ball down field before drive stalled and Braves had the ball at end of third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Sequatchie moved the ball downfield before Spring City came up with the interception to stop the drive.  On the play Dylan Pugh(33) went up and tipped the ball, which fell into the hands of J.R. Wilson(28).  Bulldogs then drove down before their drive stalled and Sequatchie then moved the ball until a fourth down pass fell short and Bulldogs took over possession with 5:05 left in the game.  Bulldogs maintained possession through the end of the game and Bulldogs pushed their record to 3-0.

Sixth Grader Latron Alloway led the defense with several tackles.  Also active defensive were eighth graders Trey Quick and Dylan Pugh as well as several other Bulldogs.

Next up for the Bulldogs on homecoming night, will be a renewal of the rivalry series with Dayton City School.  The Dayton City School series has been on hold for around ten years.  Should be a big crowd on hand for the game.  Dayton City comes in with 2-2 record, and would like nothing better than to jump on top in the renewed series with the Bulldogs.  Game time will be at 7 pm.
