Spring City, TN —  Spring City Middle School opened their home season with a convincing 36-14 win over Harriman on Thursday night behind Latron “Tank” Alloway who scored 28 points while also excelling on the middle on defense for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs received the kickoff and turned the ball over on a fumble, the only possession in the first half they did not score on.  Harriman moved the ball from their 34 to Bulldgos 30 yard line before turning the ball over on downs.  Bulldogs then ended the quarter as they moved the ball down the field.  Then from the Harriman 34 yard line, it was Tank Alloway getting free on the left sideline for the touchdown.  Two point conversion attempt was unsuccessful and Bulldogs had 6-0 lead.

On the next kickoff, Alloway kicked deep and Harriman fumbled the return, putting ball inside their ten yard line.  Bulldog defense forced a punt, which gave Spring City the ball at the Harriman 30 yard line.  After a couple of short runs, it was Alloway around the left side and into the end zone for a 20 yard touchdown run.  Tank added the two point conversion run to push the lead to 14-0 early in second quarter.  Harriman took kickoff back to 34 and moved up to 46 yard line but turned over the ball on downs as Bulldogs stopped two consecutive pass attempts to give Bulldogs the ball on Harriman 46 and began their third drive of the second quarter.  Kade Houston had nice pass catch to move the ball down to inside the 35 yard line of Harriman.  On next play Alloway took the pitch from quarterback and raced around right end for his third touchdown of the quarter as time winded down. After the failed two point conversion, the score stood at 20-0 as teams walked off field for halftime.

Harriman got some momentum as Nasir Stokes returned the kickoff for a 70 yard touchdown.  Kade Houston had the interception to prevent the two point conversion and the score stood at 20-6 early in the third quarter. On the kickoff the Bulldogs took the ball at the 40 yard line.  After Kaleb ODell got a nice nine yard run, it was Alloway with the 50 yard scamper around the right end for the touchdown.  Alloway added the two point conversion run for a 28-14 lead for the Bulldogs.  Bulldogs added one more touchdown on the night.  After Cooper Brackett took a short punt back to the 34 yard line of the Blue Devils, Dylan Pugh had a five yard touchdown run.  Cooper Brackett added the two point conversion to give the final score of 36-14.

Even though the first down count was close to even, it was big plays by the Bulldogs that made the difference, along with stops by the defense.  Alloway had runs of 36, 20, 50, and 35 yards.  On the night, Alloway went over 150 yards.  Field position also played against the Blue devils as Bulldogs enjoyed excellent field position on the night with a couple of short punts and two turn over on downs situations.  Several Bulldogs help clogs up the middle against Harriman and blocking was good for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will next face Sequatchie on Thursday night before welcoming Dayton City School the next Thursday, which will be Homecomiong game.  Both games are scheduled for 7 pm.
