Bulldogs beat Rockwood 36-30 to earn tournament championship

Spring City, TN —  Spring City basketball earned a spot in the post season championship game on Tuesday night at 8:15.  They also ensured themselves of a place in the state championship by finishing no less than second in the tournament.  Cade Cook had 12 point to lead the Bulldogs in scoring.  Jaden Pankey chipped in eight points and Austin Brackett and Drew Fisher tallied 6 points each.  Landry Jolley finished the scoring with 4 points.  Jaiden Hannibal scored 10 points and Ajay Tilley added 8 points to lead Rockwood in scoring.

Spring City started slowly, not scoring their initial points until 2:08 was left in first quarter.  But Rockwood only scored two points themselves as neither team could put the ball into the basket.  Cade Cook hit a late three point basket to give Bulldogs a 10-5 first quarter advantage.

Rockwood attacked the Bulldogs with two quick guards that dribbled and probed the defense looking for driving opportunities.  Bulldogs did good job of limited the finishes on the drives.  Rockwood stayed close and only tailed 10-9 with three minutes left in second quarter.  Bulldogs finished with 17-11 lead at the half.

Tigers came out strong in third quarter to cut the lead to 20-19 with 3:20 left in the third quarter.  Bulldogs went on 9-1 run to take 29-20 lead into the last minute of third quarter.  Bulldogs finished with 30-22 lead after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter the Tigers whittled the lead down to 32-29 with two minutes left in the game. Bulldogs turned up defense and limited Rockwood to one point over the last two minutes while scoring four more points for the 36-30 win.

Spring City 60 Fort Loudon 35

Spring City opened the tournament with a 60-35 win over Fort Loudon.  Cade Cook went off for 31 points in the victory and Jadden Pankey added 15 points for the Bulldogs.  Austin Brackett scored 8, Landry Jolley 4 and Drew Fisher 2 for the Bulldogs.  Sebastian Gonzalez hit six threes to lead Fort Loudon with 20 points on the night

The Lady Bulldogs lost their tournament game and finished the season.  Scoring for Spring City were Karlee thunquist 4,  Hannah Logsdon 2, Emily McClure 2, Saddie Burton 2 and Kylie Garrison 1.
