RHEA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PROMOTES “SLOW DOWN TENNESSEE” TO REDUCE SPEEDING-RELATED CRASHES

Dayton, TN – Rhea County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to promote “Slow Down Tennessee.” During April 16 – 30, Rhea County Sheriff’s Department will increase education, awareness, and enforcement efforts to help reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide.

Speeding is a major contributing factor in motor vehicle crashes” said Sheriff Mike Neal. “Along with wearing your seat belt and driving sober, avoiding excessive speed can greatly increase your chances of surviving a crash.”

During the Slow Down Tennessee campaign time period, deputies will work “various hours and locations in Rhea County focusing on speed enforcement and other traffic violations related to reducing speed related crashes,” Sheriff Neal said.

The State of Tennessee requires motorists to always exercise due care and maintain a safe speed while driving. Speed limits may vary depending on the county and road conditions; therefore, drivers must always pay attention and adhere to posted speed limits to ensure the safety of all roadway users.
