Scam Alert: Spoofed Calls claim to be from Sheriff’s Dept.

Sheriff Mike Neal would like everyone to be aware of a scam that is circulating through our community.

The Sheriff’s Department has received several calls today from concerned citizens that someone is “spoofing” our phone lines claiming that they are an employee of the Rhea County Sheriff Office.

Law Enforcement will never ask for very personal information over the phone or ask for money to be loaded onto a disposable credit card or solicit money for any reason over the phone.

If you receive a phone call from any number related to the Sheriff’s Office and think this is a scam please hang up and call 423-775-7837 ext. 1 or 423-775-2442 (dispatch) and ask to speak with a deputy.

Please do not give any personal information to anyone over the phone such as date of birth, social security number, or financial information.
