
Winner in District Consolation Gets 3 Seed

Crossville, TN — Rhea County Lady Eagles basketball team will play White County for Region seeding tonight at Stone Memorial High School in Crossville at 7 pm EST. Lady Eagles own a split with White County this year, with each team winning at home. Lady Eagles won 72-48 on February after losing 72-60 on January 18th. The 3 seed will go against the other district’s number 2 seed, while the number 4 seed will travel to number 1 seed in region play so tonight is a big game for both teams.
Rhea County lost to Stone Memorial in the semifinal district tournament game on Friday night 67-54. Mallory Hampton led the way for Lady Eagles with 28 points and Haley Cameron also made double figures with 11 points. Also scoring for Lady Eagles were Macy Welch and Maddie Taylor with 6 points each, Maddie Smith with 2 points and Skylar Jenkins with 1 point.
Against Stone Memorial, the Lady Eagles fell behind 17-7 in first quarter and Mallory Hampton with 12 second quarter points helped cut the gap to single digits, 36-28 at half. Lady Eagles won third quarter 15-14 to cut lead to seven at 50-43 going into last quarter but Lady Panthers finished strong for 67-54 win. Stone finishes with sweep of the Lady Eagles.
