
Lady Eagles and Eagles Win over Warren County

Crossville, TN — Rhea County High School basketball team both played in a play-in game in the District 6-AAA Tournament held at Stone Memorial High School in Crossville, Tennessee. Rhea County won for the third time against Warren County with their 73-56 win, while the Eagles got their fist win in four tries over Warren County with a 72-71 win, as they held off Warren for the win. With their wins, both team are assured of advancing to Region Tournament.
The Lady Eagles came out firing with five three point baskets in first quarter for 18-15 lead then overpowered Warren 24-12 for the 42-27 lead. Mallory Hampton led Lady Eagles with 18 first half points. Rhea County again outscored Lady Pioneers 21-18 in third and held strong in fourth quarter on their way to 73-56 win. Hampton had 24 to lead Lady Eagles. Maddie Taylor hit five three point baskets for her 15 points. Also hitting double figures were Haley Cameron(13) and Maddie Smith(11).
Both teams will be back in action on Thursday night with Lady Eagles taking on Stone Memorial at 7:00 pm est and Eagles also playing Stone Memorial with 8:30 pm tip time. Both teams will look for their first win this season against Stone. Both teams played close at home against Stone. Lady Eagles also played close before losing 54-49 at the end of January while the Eagles were not close(65-33) in the game at Stone Memorial. Both teams are capable and Lady Eagle fans are looking forward to seeing their teams in Championship game.
