May 2019

Evensville, TN –– Senior Celie Patterson sat down with friends, family, players and others to sign scholarship papers with Cleveland State to continue her education and to continue playing volleyball.  Celie will go from Lady Eagle to Lady Cougar with Cleveland State.  Celie is a very special player on the Rhea County Volleyball team.  Celie is known as a student who goes about her business and does things the right way.  She is also known as a hard worker.  Celie has been playing volleyball since the seventh grade.

When asked why Cleveland State, Celie said, It’s close to home and they have a good volleyball program.  I’m looking forward to meeting new people and playing with my new team.  I will miss the girls here and all our pregame meals and dances.”

Rhea Count High School volleyball coach Stephanie Burgiss said, “Celie is one of those girls, you really hate to lose.  She has meant so much to the program.  Last year we went from four wins to 24 wins with several tournament victories.”

Patterson plans on majoring in Education and at present has not made a choice on a four year college.
