Randal Ray Gibbs, 65died Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born on July 23, 1955, Randal was a lifetime resident of Spring City.  He was a graduate of Spring City High School ”Class of 1973 and a graduate of University of Tennessee Knoxville.  Randal was a lifelong member of the Spring City United Methodist Church, where he was involved in various activities and held several positions within the church.  He retired at age 50 from TVA to continue his favorite hobby of bass and crappie fishing.  Randal also loved to hunt and enjoyed UT football.  He liked to attend auctions but, mainly he enjoyed helping others. Randal was a mentor to many, both young and old.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Nina Wattenbarger Gibbs.

Survivors include his longtime companion of over 40 years, Rhonda Evans of Spring City, brother Edward (Linda) Gibbs of Spring City, sister Patsy (Kelton) Owen of Murfreesboro, TN, special friends Joe Higdon of Grandview, Cheryl McClendon of Spring City, Todd Jackson of Spring City, Jacob Mathews of Spring City and Randi (Casey) Strader of Rockwood, nieces and nephews Julie (David) Dawson, Thomas (Kim) Owen, Angela Palmer and Stephanie McClain, great nieces and nephews Katie Anna and Nathan Owen, Braden Sims, Haleigh Dodd, Cory McClain, Tanner McClain and Madison McClain and great-great niece and nephew Kyleigh Fugate and Kayson Dodd.

A celebration of Randal’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Spring City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Grant, Rev. Gary Alley and Rev. David Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the church. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, masks will be required to enter the church. As per Randall’s wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be buried next to his mom and dad at Spring City Memorial Gardens following his Celebration of Life Service.
