
University of the Cumberlands Sophomore Pendleton totals 17 tackles to win POW for Mid-South Conference

Williamsburg, KY — Sophomore linebacker Tyler Pendleton was recently named the MSC Appalachian Division Defensive Player of the Week.
It is the first conference player of the week award for Pendleton in his career.
Tyler recorded a season and career-high 17 tackles for the Patriots in the loss to the University of Pikeville.
He tallied five solo tackles and 12 assisted tackles while also recording two tackles for a loss in the game.
It is the second straight contest that Pendleton has accumulated double-digit tackles. On the year, Pendleton is averaging 10.5 tackles per game in four games for the Patriots.
He also has 5-1/2 tackles for a loss.
As a freshman in 2016, Tyler played in 8 games, and started in 2 games.

Tyler had a stellar career at Rhea County High School before his graduation in 2016.
Tyler Pendleton was selected All-Region as Linebacker of the Year. Pendleton, also selected as Rhea County’s All-Region Academic Representative.
2015 was a bumper year for Pendleton. The defensive specialist ended his senior year with 233 total tackles, 154 solo tackles, and a monster interception advancing Rhea County past number one seed Knox Farragut in the second round. An impressive encore for a player who received District 6-AAA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2014.
Pendleton’s Rhea County football career spans four years. In all, he’s credited with 390 tackles, 253 solo tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, and two interceptions. Pendleton and fellow seniors leave with a 7-3 playoff record during their tenure.
