The Tennessee Valley Chapter of Safari Club International is hosting its annual fundraising banquet & auction on March 23 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Organizer Keith Watson said the theme of the event, known as ‘The Night of the Hunter,’ is protecting the freedom to hunt.

“The Tennessee Valley SCI Chapter is the foremost organization in this area that supports hunters and hunters rights,” said Watson. “We are the NRA of hunters rights.”

The event includes a silent auction, raffles, and fun games prior to dinner.

“After dinner we will have an exciting live auction with hunts from around the world,” said Watson. “Sometimes some amazing hunts and other opportunities are sold at 50 percent their market value. We will have more than thirty firearms that can be claimed in auctions, games, or as gifts in raffle packages.”

The money raised at the annual SCI banquet goes to support an annual “Hunt for Warriors,” a deer hunt held exclusively for wounded veterans. They also provide support for a variety of humanitarian services including the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. Educational efforts include the SCI American Wilderness Leadership School, a special learning opportunity for area teachers. They also buy equipment used by area wildlife law enforcement officers.

The doors open at 5 pm on March 23 with dinner served at 7 pm. Several hunting or fishing outfitters will be on hand to meet and talk with.

Register online at TNValleySCI.org and purchase your tickets. Watson says your tickets and auction bidder # will be waiting for you at the door.
