Rhea County baseball standout, Lucas Travis signs with Bryan College to continue his baseball and academic careers.

“It feels really good,” says Travis who’s played a key role as catcher for the Eagles with a combined .337 batting average, over 47 runs scored, 42 runs batted in, and 20 stolen bases in 2016-17 seasons alone.

“Lucas is a phenomenal young man who we are fortunate to have coming to Bryan,” states Lions coach and Athletic Director Taylor Hasty.

“We are excited to continue watching him grow as a player and a young man.  He has a great work ethic which will serve him well in college and beyond.”

For Travis, who’s about to start his senior season, it was an easy choice.

“I’m pretty excited to be going there.  Coach Hasty has built an amazing program, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

“It’s a relief that I’ve found somewhere to go this early in the season.”

Travis is looking forward to Rhea County’s 2018 season and believes the Eagles have a great opportunity to build on their recent success.

“We should be really good this year.  We’re pretty much returning the whole team.”

The 3.85 GPA student currently has his eyes on a business or physical therapy major.
