Game Preview by Brian Kamer:

Well football fans, it has been quite the journey this gridiron season, and, at least for the regular season version of it, we will witness the end this Friday night as the Ravens of Cane Ridge make the trek from the Antioch to face our Eagles at home.

While this Friday ends the Eagles’ regular season, there are still the playoffs, one in which the locals have secured at least a spot in, and I have a feeling this isn’t the last time we will see a few of these seniors strap on their gear and take the field.

This group has left their legacy for future Eagles to follow, but they no doubt have some chapters they would like to write before closing the book on their time in Evensville.

With this Friday’s game, they will have a chance to play one of the best teams they have faced thus far, if not the best in the last few seasons.

Cane Ridge enters the game a perfect 9-0 on the season with a region title and home field advantage in the Class 6A playoffs under their belts as they make the two-plus hour drive from the Nashville suburb of Antioch.

They are led on offense by Devon Starling (#5, Senior, 6’0 190), a shifty, yet powerful running back who also doubles as a free safety on defense.

He is one of the top rushers across the state with his current statistics sitting at well over 1500 rushing yards and more than 20 touchdowns.

However, he will be facing a tough Eagle defense that has been pretty stout agaisnt the run this season, led by Chandler Kaylor who was just invited to compete in the Toyota East-West All-Star game, a huge honor and well-derved.

Kaylor will be assisted by Bradley Goodwin at the linebacker spots and Aulbrey Smith from his safety position.

Offensively, the Eagles have their work cut out for them as the Ravens have won by a three score margin on average this season.

Senior Eagle quarterback and leading scorer for 2018 Zack Pemberton will pose a unique challenge to the Ravens with his ability to contribute to the running game.

Also, watch out for Bo Garmany, the Eagles’ tank of a fullback who loves nothing more than to stiff arm opponents on his way to big carries.

Here are the 2018 seniors:

  • Zack Pemberton (#7, QB/DB)
  • Chandler Kaylor (#42, LB/FB)
  • Colton Edwards (#78, OL/DL)
  • Payton Dugger (#57, OL/DL)
