Law Enforcement Agencies hold Active Shooter class at Church

Deputies and officers of the Rhea County Sheriff's Department and the Dayton City Police Department hold Active Shooter Awareness Classes at First Church in Dayton (submitted)

An active shooter awareness class was held at First United Methodist Church in Dayton last night by local law enforcement agencies.

This class was put together at the direction of Sheriff Mike Neal and Chief Chris Sneed for our places of Worship due to the recent church shootings in Antioch Tennessee and in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

The class aims to give area churches basic information on security procedures, developing a security plan, and what to expect during an active shooter incident.

Sheriff Neal and Chief Sneed want everyone to feel safe when they go to their churches for worship.

They are looking forward to working with other churches who have already expressed interest in having Deputies and Officers assist them with further planning and classes to help keep them safe.

There is going to be another opportunity to attend this class on Monday November 27th at 6pm at Central Baptist Church 321 Clinton Ave Spring City TN.
