Announcement from Laura Travis:

Today, I am announcing my candidacy for Rhea County Executive.

The role of County Executive is crucial to the future of Rhea. Strong leadership and a good working relationship with our state and federal elected officials, the County Commission, and municipal leaders will help shape our future for the coming decades.

We must have a strategic plan for the next 5, 10, and 20 years to reduce our debt, while being able to fund programs and projects that truly bring value to and strengthen our community.

We must focus on safety and planning and improve our Emergency Management equipment to make sure that when our first responders are called upon, they have what they need to keep the people of Rhea safe.

And we must keep the hard working and talented people of Rhea in Rhea. Rhea County is nothing without the foundation of the people that have helped create this community that we all love and we want our best and brightest to remain here at home to help us build this future.

I have lived in Rhea County for 36 years. My husband grew up here, we’ve raised a family here, built a business here, and have committed ourselves to serving the community.

This isn’t my campaign, this is our campaign for the future we want to have. With this in mind, I humbly ask for your support as we begin this journey together.

Thank you, and may God continue to bless Rhea County.
