Lady Eagles win final home game on Senior Night

Lady Eagles send seniors off with a memorable win during final game at home against Cleveland.

Lady Eagles come out swinging against the Cleveland Lady Raiders with a 12-2 rally.  Rhea County set the pace with solid ball control and a scrappy defense.  The Lady Eagles closed the first quarter with a 14-6 advantage.

Rhea County’s momentum waned early in the 2nd, but Lady Eagle Shelby Thurman got her team back on track with a basket plus one.  Lady Eagles kept the defensive pressure applied, holding Cleveland to 7 points in the second closing the half at, 26-13 Rhea County.

Lady Eagle Katie Loden drew first blood in the 2nd half with an Amber Levi assisted layup.  The rally was continued with a basket from Jessee Wallis.  Rhea County expanded their lead closing the 3rd with a 17 point advantage, 38-21.

The Lady Eagles continued their dominance by outscoring Cleveland 12-5 in the final quarter of play.  The Lady Eagles put on a clinic in the final home game of the season with a final score of 50-26.

Congratulations to the Lady Eagles!!  We wish all Lady Eagle Seniors continued success.  Lady Eagle Seniors include #5 Katie Loden, #12 Kelsey Miles, and #24 Julie Brown.

Golden Eagle Men’s basketball team lost to Cleveland in a tough battle, 53-41.  We’re proud of our Golden Eagle Seniors.  Rhea County Men’s Varsity seniors include: #2 Cain Sharp, #10 Bryan Harrison, #12 Dimitrius “Meechie” Patterson, #15 Josh Eastman, and #20 Hunter Crook.  We wish all our seniors continued success in their future endeavors.

Golden Eagle basketball teams have only two regular season games remaining.  The first is Friday, Feb. 7, @ Cookeville.  The final regular season game is Monday, February 10, @ Sweetwater.  Rhea County will play in the District 6-AAA Tourney in Cookeville beginning February 13-18.
