Lauren Garrison Signs to Run Track at Tennessee Wesleyan University

September 2018

Evensville, TN —  Rhea County High School Track Runner Lauren Garrison signed scholarship papers with Tennessee Wesleyan University on Wednesday, before coaches, friends, family, school officials and others.  Lauren will run track for TWC coach Sam Roberts.  Roberts was named USTFCCA South Region Men’s Track and Field Head Coach of the Year for 2018.

Lauren has been running track since her freshman year.  She began running hurdles in her sophomore and that will be her strong event she will take to Tennessee Wesleyan.  Lauren had an opportunity to visit Tennessee Wesleyan and her decision was easy.  Lauren will follow in the footsteps of Josh Parson who will graduate this December.  Josh was an All-American performer at TWC.

After the signing, Lauren said, “Over track season, the Tennessee Wesleyan coach contacted me and asked me to go to practice and run with them for a day.  I did and I loved it.  Ever since them it was an easy decision.  I always wanted to go there.”

Rhea County High School Track coach Steffan Holder said, “She decided to concentrate on track and field and it has obviously paid off.  She has done an outstanding job for us.  She has gotten faster and stronger.”
