TDOT to install new traffic signals at two bypass intersections

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has announced that a change is coming to Dayton’s Hwy 27 and SR-378, or as it is known to most commuters as the north Market Street crossover.

According to Jennifer Flynn-Region 2 Community Relations Officer, the intersection will be receiving a complete redesign along with a new traffic signal. According to TDOT,  bids were awarded on February 10th of this year to Talley Construction Company of Rossville, Georgia. Talley Construction intends to begin the road closure, crossing Little Richland Creek, on the morning of April 17, 2017.

Detour signs will be posted at the intersections of SR-30 and SR-378 in front of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home. SR-378 is expected to remain closed throughout the duration of the project until the new traffic signals are operational. With SR-378 closed, the crossover intersection at Hwy 27 will be relocated and realigned.

Aside from the new traffic signal, there will be additional turning lanes from Hwy 27.  In addition, the intersection of Hwy 27 & 11th Ave will also be widened and a traffic signal installed as part of this project.

The project completion  date is expected to be November 15, 2017 at a cost of $1,433,870.50.
