Golden Eagle Defense punishes Panthers in first Spring Practice Game, Rhea County wins 48-0.

May 9, 2014

Evensville, TN —  I’ve been to Orange-White and Crimson-White Spring Practice games, and neither compared to this.  There was no scorekeeper or announcer, but there was plenty of action on the field.  With the TN Strawberry Festival taking center stage in Rhea County, you may have missed the action.  Enjoy the highlight video with exclusive interviews with players and Coach Mark Pemberton.

The Golden Eagle defense shutout Knox-Powell with 2 interceptions and a forced fumble recovery. The Golden Eagles were equally potent on offense as QB Austin Thurman hooked up with Gavin Downey #88 for a touchdown. Thurman has some big shoes to fill as graduating Austin Dotson led the Eagles to a 10-2 season last year.

Despite losing Dist-6AAA MVP, Dimitrius Patterson to graduation, Rhea County will have a full backfield of seasoned runners. With Jacob York, Cody Bice, Bryce Keylon, and now Zach Daoust, the Eagles will have plenty of weapons in their arsenal. The Eagles are also returning powerhouses such as CJ Shelton and Jacob Williams on the line. Other playmakers, such as Lee Hill and Safety David Loden will be returning as well.

Again, I was impressed with the action on the field it was a great game to watch. So come out next Saturday as the Eagles play at home versus Bradley Central at 6pm. This will be the last time to see them play before next fall.
