Rhea County Golden Eagles Football team back on Bill Horton Field for Spring Practice
May 1, 2014
Evensville, TN — After a long winter and a lot of hard work in the gym, the Rhea County Football team got back on Bill Horton Field yesterday, as the team held their first spring practice of 2014. Rhea County will try to build on an amazing, 10-2 season. Enjoy the video with included interview with Coach Mark Pemberton.
“It’s great to be back out in spring practice,” says Pemberton. “The kids had a great winter in the weight room. They were eager to get out here and get to practice. They’ve impressed me, there’s been a lot of retention from last year. I was really surprised at that. We’re way ahead of the schedule. It’s amazing how far along we are from last year.”
“Now we’re that much further ahead and we’re starting off great, so hopefully we can keep that going. Our kids, the way they worked over the winter, I think it’s gonna pay off in the spring practice and into our summer program too.”
Along with new talent on the field, you’ll see a familiar face on the coaching staff. Former Spring City Head Coach and 1994 Rhea County graduate, Jerry Cook, has been added to the staff.
You won’t want to miss the two upcoming Spring games. The first will be next Friday, May 9th vs. Powell at 6pm. The second will be the following Saturday, May 17th – 6pm vs. Bradley Central.
The Rhea County Touchdown Club has also announced there will be a Golden Eagle Bass Fishing Championship on June 21st at Dayton Boat Dock. Show your support for the Rhea County Golden Eagles by sponsoring the event.
