The letter below is from Dimitrius and addressed to Golden Eagle fans.  Show your love and support.

Hello, my name is Dimitrius Patterson.

I am so grateful to everyone in this community for their support throughout my football and basketball career.  I have been given a great opportunity to attend The Atlanta Sports Academy to further my education and my football career.  As most of you know I come from a family of six children and my parents do not have the 7,000 dollars that I so desperately need to make my dream a reality.  So I am asking for your help financially with donations that can be made at First Bank of Tennessee.

Dimitrius Patterson - Little Eagle
Dimitrius from Little Eagle to Golden Eagle.

I live for football; it is my pride, joy and first love! I can remember my days from the Little Eagles, to Dayton City School to now at Rhea County High School.  The football in my past has had the biggest impact on my life.

I can remember when I was seven years old and my mom signed me up for the Little Eagles, and that day I chose my first number; it was seven. The first time I touched the football, I knew it was going to be a childhood dream to make it to the NFL. I will always remember what my mom told me: “Your size, height and weight do not matter, it is all in your heart and your effort.” I took her advice, and today, I have the heart of a lion.

Throughout middle school, I strived to be the best player around. In my sixth grade year, I was the first sixth grader to ever start at Dayton City School and that was an amazing goal that I accomplished.  We went 1-7 that season, and I was determined to make that change.  My seventh grade year got better, and we finished with four wins and three losses.  My eighth grade year got outstandingly better and we finished with six wins and two losses.  In my final game, we beat Whitwell 59-21, and I scored my career high of eight touchdowns.  We progressively improved as the years went by with hard work and motivation.

We have changed Rhea County Football for the better and brought this community back together! No one will ever know my love for this town!

Then, I reached high school and it was a big change for me athletically.  People were bigger, faster, and stronger, which never stopped me from reaching my goals!  My senior season will be the season that I will never forget with my brothers, my team, and my family!  We have changed Rhea County Football for the better and brought this community back together!  No one will ever know my love for this town!

This next year, I will be attending college at the prep school, Atlanta Sports Academy, where I will have my chance to keep chasing my dream to play at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville after a semester there.

I will be majoring in physical education with a focus on coaching to earn my Bachelor of Science Degree and once it is said and done, I want to have the amazing chance to coach this wonderful game.

Meechie

My desire to play football in college and in the NFL is greater than anyone I know.  I workout hard and train everyday to be the best out there.  My grind comes from my struggle, seeing my mom struggle when I was a kid. It is something that I would never want my child to see.  My mom is my rock, and without her, none of these opportunities would be possible.  My hope is that one day my mother will never have to work again!

Without God, none of this is possible.  God has a plan for me, and with Him I can do all things. I live by faith with the Lord by my side because once I make it, the money will first go ten percent to God, the rest I will take care of my family, and give back to my community!  The members of this community give me so much support, and that is all a player could ever ask for!

Last, some people might not understand my love for this game, but it is my ticket out, my passion, and my joy. I could be having a bad day, and pick up a football to pass for awhile and forget about everything. It is such a blessing to play this game with my God-given talent! I want to thank you for all your support, and I will never forget your love and dedication to me and my success. God has set my alarm clock and my time is coming. Thank you and God Bless each and everyone of you!

Sincerely,

Dimitrius Patterson #6
