Fourteen Young Ladies are in 2020 Distinguished Young Woman Program
Chattanooga, TN — The class of 2020 Distinguished Young Woman spent the day at Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Fourteen young ladies are competing for the title currently held by 2019 winner McKenzie Willis, who was in attendance at Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful place, located near Children’s Hospital and Erlanger. The 28 bed facility offers free housing for families who have children in long term stay. In a normal year the facility serves around 600 families and an average stay is around two week.
The class of 2020 volunteered and cooked a meal for the families that are staying there. They also helped with a few extra cleaning chores. They also received a tour of the facility. The girls have begun rehearsals in preparation for the competition that will be held on May 18 at Bryan College.
The 14 young women come together for this competition and will bejudged at various levels. The young ladies will be judged on interview 25%, scholastics 20%, talent 25%, self-expression 15% and fitness 15%. DYW is very important program for these young ladies.
