Grandview Mountain Pickers entertain at library
Dayton, TN — The Clyde W. Roddy Library continued its June “Libraries Rock” reading program. On Monday Elizabeth Armour won the Lego Challenge and received a prize box of legos. Tuesday’s big attraction was a visit by the Grandview Mountain Pickers. Pickers introduced many of the young and old to bluegrass music as they performed for around 45 minutes. Afterwards they took time to share some tips on various instruments with those in attendance. The Pickers are a family of five who sing and play the fiddle, guitar and banjo. Today was just four as little brother stayed home. You can check out the Pickers on their facebook page. The five performers are Hannah Grace, Rebekah Faith, Mary Ruth Lydia Hope and Elijah(Bubba). The siblings range from 11 up to 18 years of age.
On Wednesday the Rhea County Animal Shelter will be at the library at 10 am and will be bringing animals for the kids to see and pet. On Thursday at 6:00 pm the dance group “Boots and Roses” will perform and on Friday at 2:00 pm there will be fun rodeo games with plenty of prizes.
The “Libraries Rock” reading program will continue until June 29th, when the final grand finale prize give-a-way will happen.
