Evensville, TN — Rhea County High School Senior Carson Ruehling recently signed scholarship papers with Bryan College.  Carson will play soccer at Bryan for first year coach Jeremy Davidson.

Carson talked with Rhea Review, Carson said, “I made the final decision to go to Bryan two weeks ago.”

Talking about the past season, Carson said, “We worked hard and went out and battled every single night.”

Progress over the career, Carson said, “I didn’t even start JV as a freshman.  I didn’t care much but tried out and made travel team in the summer and began to care.”

Carson’s father, Micah Ruehling spoke briefly before the signing.  Micah said, “What I want to talk about is the focus of you guys.  To watch the advancement from freshman to senior year final game and what that looks like is exciting.   Those memories will subside but what will be really important is how you have invested in each other.”

“I have often said that athletics teaches something that a classroom and four walls can’t do.  It teaches you how to compete.  It teaches you how to give your best effort.”

Coach Justin Smith said, “In Carson’s feshman they won five games, and won eleven in sophomore year and 17 and 16 the last two years.  These seniors on both guys and girls’ teams have ushered in a new era for us(Rhea County High School soccer).  They come to me understanding the game already.”

“Carson have been a great leader on the team.  Been fun watching him grow through the years.  Last year he started varsity for us at centerback.  At one point this year, he was our leading goal scorer.  He was district overall MVP this year.”
