I asked Brandi a few question so we can know a little more about our reigning 2019 Strawberry Queen.
How exciting is it to represent the Strawberry Festival as Queen?
“I’m so excited to be able to attend the events throughout the week of the festival and help out as much as possible! I’m excited to give back to the sweet community of Dayton!”
How many pageants have you competed in?
“I’ve competed in numerous pageants throughout my lifetime such as Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Iris Tennessee Teen, National American Miss, Tennessee’s Fairest is the Fair pageant, and many other local pageants.”
When did you first start doing pageants?
“I’ve been doing pageants my whole life, but I got serious about them about 4 years ago and started really investing into them!”
How does pageant competition help you in other phases of life?
“Pageants has helped me gain so many skills throughout my lifetime, especially my public speaking skills and confidence. Before pageants, I could never talk on stage like I did at the pageant today. I’ve volunteered at a lot of community service events where I’ve had to give a speech or something in that manner, which pageants have helped me so much with. I actually started my own project called “The Tennessee Confidence Project” where I go around to local schools or groups and try to teach them that they can be confident in themselves!”
What is your strongest asset when you compete in pageants?
“I would say my strongest asset in competing in pageants is interviewing. It has helped me in my personal life such a tremendous amount. Actually, every job interview I’ve ever done has resulted in me getting the job!”
You have logged over 2500 hours as a volunteer, That is a lot of time spent volunteering. Can you list some of you favorite volunteer events in which you participated?
“Volunteering is a passion of mine! From volunteering and fundraising, I raised over $10,000 for Children’s Miracle Network! This past September, I volunteered at The Ronald McDonald House by cooking a meal for them, which was so great to be a part of. Last year, I partnered with the UTC Club Baseball Team to collect items for the homeless where we collected around 700 items! Another few of my favorites in the past was collecting stuffed animals for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN and hosting a BBQ fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network where we raised $2200!”
