
Rhea County Wins 81-66 over White; Travels to East Hamilton

Crossville, TN — Rhea County won District 6-AAA consolation game 81-66 over White County to ensure they would travel to # 2 seed in District 5-AAA, East Hamilton. In the game, Rhea County got the early lead and kept the Lady Warriors at bay throughout the game. White made a few runs, including a three point make at half-time buzzer and two quick threes in third quarter but could not get any close than six the rest of the way. Lady Eagles owned 19-12, 41-31, 62-53 leads at quarter breaks leading to final 81-66 loss. For the game, the Lady Eagles hit eight three point baskets in first half, and four more in the third quarter before hitting 16 of 16 free throws in the last quarter to win the game. Mallory Hampton led the Lady Eagles with 28 points. Haley Cameron and Macy Welch and Maddie Smith also made double figures with 12 ,11 7 11 points respectively. Also scoring for Lady Eagles were: Maddie Taylor 8, Sydney Jenkins 6 and Emma Gentry with 5 points. Thirteen three point baskets helped the Lady Eagles to the win and they got good play off the bench from Gentry and Jenkins. All five starters hit at least two three point baskets in the game for the Lady Eagles. Kendreah Reeves led White with 16 points and Gracie Dodgen and Aliana Stiles scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
White County will travel to Cleveland to play Bradley Central in a 7:00 pm game. White County won against Bradley back in 2015 Region Play. White now has lost six of last seven games after beginning season 21-2.
East Hamilton(20-12) will host Rhea County(16-14) in Region 3-AAA opener Friday at 7:00 pm EST in Collegedale. Rhea County owns a win over East Hamilton back on November 27th, 61-53. The Lady Eagles hit on 11 of 28 from behind the three point line their win over the Lady Hurricanes, despite 30 points from Junior Madison Hayes. Mallory Hampton led the Lady Eagles with 18 points in that game.
