Dayton, TN —  The Relay for Life events being held all over the country and here in Dayton Tennessee bring hope to lives and honor memories of those who were taken by the terrible disease.  Today, September 23 the event will be held at the Delaware Avenue Sports Complex just across from tennis courts.  Beginning at 10:00 AM craft vendors along with Relay For Life teams will be set up.

Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser cancer walk for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries who give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer. The Luminarias will be held at 9:30 pm.

From the American Cancer Society website:

Luminarias honor every life touched by cancer. You can dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or anyone who’s overcome it. When you attend a Relay event, you’ll see the Luminarias decorated with names and sometimes messages to the people they’re dedicated to.

After dark, Relay participants share an emotional moment when each Luminaria is lit in remembrance of a life touched by cancer. Together, we take a moment of silence to remember the loved ones they’re dedicated to. When you make a donation for a Luminaria it helps fund the American Cancer Society’s mission to help save lives.
