The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 by John Bishop
February 4, 2017
Spring City, TN — TVT(Tennessee Valley Theatre) in Spring City presents The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 by John Bishop. The play was first performed at the Circle Repertory Company in their theatre at 99 Seventh Avenue South in New York City, later moving to Broadway, opening on April 6, 1987, in The Longacre Theatre. Performance tonight is at 7:30 pm at the Tennessee Valley Theatre at 184 West Jackson in downtown Spring City, Tennessee. Check at end of article for more play dates and times.
The play goes like this. The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher”) assemble for a backer’s audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel.” The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who is apparently four different people- all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem that follows when the infamous “slasher” makes his reappearance and strikes again.
