Tennessee runs streak to 3 straight home wins against Kentucky
Knoxville, TN — The University of Tennessee used a 47-28 second half to pick up a much needed win over Kentucky after a couple of tough losses against Arkansas and Auburn. The University of Tennessee came out an erased a 37-29 halftime deficit and then battled the always talented Kentucky before pulling out the 76-65 win at home. The win is the third time in a row that Tennessee has beaten Kentucky in Knoxville.
Rick Barnes had to be happy with the win that helps keep Tennessee on the hunt for an NCAA post season invite as SEC conference play had begun with 0-2 start. Vols record now stands at 10-4(1-2 SEC) and Kentucky’s record drops to 12-3(2-1 SEC). Kentucky came into the game ranked 17th and the Vols at 23rd.
A key player in the second half was Grant Williams for the vols. After going 0-4 and scoring two points in the first half. Williams received a visit from former vol basketball player Ron Slay at halftime and apparently the talk made a difference for Grant as he scored 16 second half points and added 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the game. Admiral Schofield led Tennessee in scoring with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
Tennessee will be back in action at Vanderbilt on Tuesday night at 9 pm est.
