Spring City Bulldogs open with 24 point first quarter on way to win at home

August 17, 2017

Spring City, TN —  Spring City Middle Football opened at home with 48-8 win over Webb.  Spring City jumped out to quick touchdown and continued as they scored 48 points in the first two quarters on their way to the win.  Getting the lead allowed coach Anthony Loden to get a lot of looks at the reserves in this game.

With just over two minutes gone in the game, Jadden Pankey had a straight up the gut 25 yard touchdown to get Bulldogs started.  Pankey added on the 2 point conversion run.  Spring City recovered a fumble and then it was Pankey with a long run.  Austin Bracket slipped through the left side of the line to score the second Bulldogs TD.  Jadden Pankey added a two point conversion around the left end to push lead to 16-0.  Sir Alloway tacked on third touchdown as he walked untouched into end zone.  Quarterback Cade Cook also walked in for the two point conversion and ran the first quarter score to 24-0 with less than second remaining in first quarter.

Pankey added his second touchdown and Brackett tacked on 2 point conversion for 32-0 lead.  After a recovery by Spring City on kickoff, it was Garrett Ramsey with long run and then short 8 yard run for the 5th touchdown of the day for the Bulldogs.  Trent Edwards added two point conversion to run lead to 40-0.  Cade Cook scored the last touchdown and Hunter Crowe scored the 2 point conversion to give Bulldogs 48-0 lead that they took into halftime.

Webb scored a touchdown and 2 point conversion late to make the final score 48-8.

Big Drew Fisher had the hit of the game on a loud hit heard across the field on the Midway runner just off the sidelines.  Drew then teamed with Sir Alloway on the same series to stop a 4th down try and give the ball to the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs will hit the road on highway 27, landing in  Harriman for a 7:00 pm kickoff.  Harriman may be looking to exact revenge for last year’s 30-0 win by Bulldogs.

Coach Loden and his staff, Alan Lane, Wiley Brackett, and Roy Guthrie as usual did great job of getting team ready for opening game.  Still lots of work to get underclassmen ready to step up this year and take over next year when this year’s 22 man 8th grade class moves on.

After the game, Head Coach Anthony Loden said, “Good opening game win.  Everybody got in.”

“We got some game experience for our reserves.  That’s where it is at.  We are gonna need them down the road.  We played pretty well tonight.”

“Harriman is next.  I hear they went into a little spread.  We’ll check them out and see what they got.”
