Spring City Bulldogs build momentum for county rivalry


With a cross county rivalry game on the horizon, Spring City Bulldogs handle Sale Creek with ease. After sweeping the Sale Creek Lions, the junior varsity improves to 2-5 and the varsity imporves to 6-7 (3-4 league). The Bulldogs will take this momentum into tomorrow night’s game (Tuesday December 10th – Girls JV action starting @ 5pm at Dayton City).

Spring City led the whole way with a 10-4 first quarter lead, 19-10 halftime lead, and a 26-14 lead after three. Justin Gilmore led all scorers with 16 points, Jackson Harveston had 11, Fernando Mejia-Rendon scored 8, and Drake Taylor scored 3.

“I was proud of the JV, Sale Creek played us tougher this game, but our kids executed better and are improving. It was a positive victory”, says Coach Bill Chattin.

Led by Cameron Thunquist’s 6 points in the first quarter, Spring City led 10-4 after the first period and 18-6 at the half. After struggling to find the bottom of the hoop in the first half, Spring City had balanced scoring and turned up its defensive pressure in the 3rd period, outscoring Sale Creek 12-3 to lead 30-9 after three.

Girls JV at 5 PM, Boys JV @ 6 PM, followed by girls and boys varsity at 7 and 8 PM.
