“Going for Gold Childhood Cancer” Events schedule March 23-25

February 2018

Dayton, TN —  Coming in March to Dayton is the “Southern Showcase” baseball tournament for all ages.  Friday night skills competition, followed by two days of tournament play at area Dayton fields.  Check below for ages and entry fees.  Teams participating include 6U, 7U & 8U,  9U & 18 U,11U & 12U, 13U,  & Middle School.  There will be 1st and 2nd place awards, championship rings, custom MVP awards, team awards and more.    For more information Call or text 423-298-3212 and/or  visit the “Southern Showcase” website.   Registration deadline is March 20, 2018.  Entry fees from $75.00 up to $250.00.  There will be 3 game guarantee format.

We are “Going Gold”.  As of now the Southern Showcase will be going gold for the entire event.  In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness which has hit close to home recently.  We want to use this event to help raise awareness.  It is amazing the percentage rates of childhood cancer patients and our tournament staff feels that any spotlight that we can place on the topic is extremely beneficial!  The plan behind going yellow is to simply do away with the ordinary white chalk lines and paint lines for the event and replace them with yellow gold.  When someone asks why the field is prepared in yellow gold instead of white this is the reason why.  We will also have a large yellow gold ribbon in center field of all fields for the event.  For those that are willing and able we will have a donation box at each concession stand throughout the tournament and all donations made will be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of the late Jaxon Williams.  We encourage everyone to spend a few minutes in your spare time and help raise awareness by simply sharing to Facebook or other social media outlets.  Thank you for playing in the Southern Showcase!

  • March 17th – Final Day to Pre-Order Tournament Shirts
  • March 19th – Cut Off to Enter Event – 9pm
  • March 20th – Entry Fees Due / Roster Deadline – 5pm
  • March 20th – Live Pool Play Draw on Facebook – 7pm
  • March 21st – Tournament Staff Meeting – 6pm
  • March 23rd – SKLZ Competition Night – 6pm
  • March 24th & 25th – Tournament Play Begins at 8am

Friday Night SKLZ competition:

The Friday Night SKLZ Competition is heading into year two and will be even bigger and better than what we offered in the first one.  This night is 100% free to any player that wants to participate.  We will have score sheets on each field that double as our sign up sheets.  The events are first come first serve and you can participate in any or all of the events you would like.  At the end of the night we will name a winner for EVERY event PER age group.  The winner will receive an individual award and a SKLZ soft hand as their prize.  Our homerun derby is set up to be age appropriate with 6U hitting from about 85 feet and 13U/Middle School will hit on 200 foot fences for it to give everyone a good shot at hitting a BOMB!  The bunt contest has a points system that we will use to calculate a winner and the obstacle course is a speed trial.  This year we are adding a bat spin relay for the coaches so that everyone can get a good laugh in watching it and the “Perfect Pitch” will be a pitching/throwing accuracy event.  While all events are going on we will have a Live DJ on site playing music and working the mic to help us have an even better time and at the end of the night we may even work in a dance off!!!  Friday night will be the only night that full weekend gate passes are offered for sale ($20 for weekend passes) also.  We hope to see everyone come out and enjoy this night as it is designed to be a lot of fun for everyone!

 Three Game Guarantee Format

Weekend Pass:  $20 – Weekend passes are ONLY available on Friday night!  Saturday and Sunday will be daily passes only!!!

Saturday & Sunday – $8 per person / 12 & Under FREE / $5 Seniors

Friday Night – $8 per person – Everyone who enters the gate on Friday will be given a raffle ticket to fill out and place in a drawing.  The drawing will take place at the end of the night Friday.  We will draw one winner for each of the following prizes….

  • (2) Folding Chairs
  • Set of Cornhole Boards
  • Jacob Myers Restaurant Gift Card
  • Ayala’s Bar & Grill Gift Card
  • Marucci F5 Bat (Any Size)

ALL TEAMS NEED TO BE PREPARED TO PLAY AT 8 A.M. SATURDAY MORNING.  VERY FEW SPECIAL REQUESTS WILL BE ABLE TO BE MET AND THEY WILL BE DONE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.  WE WILL BE USING FACEBOOK LIVE TO DO A LIVE DRAW FOR ALL GAMES AND AGE GROUPS ON THE TUESDAY PRIOR TO THE EVENT SO YOU WILL KNOW YOUR GAME TIME ON TUESDAY NIGHT TO GIVE PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE PLANS FOR TRAVEL.  WE ENCOURAGE ALL TEAMS TO TRAVEL IN ON FRIDAY EVENING TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR FRIDAY NIGHT SKLZ COMPETITION.
