Fireworks bring to End 2018 July 4th Celebration

July 2018

Spring City, TN —  The Shake the Lake 2018 July 4th Celebration was delayed a week but weather came up good, attendance went well and the fireworks brought to an end 2018 Shake the Lake.

Day began with the Mr and Miss Fireworks Pageant that brought in around 100 participants for the day.  Crowns were earned by top thee and sometimes four finishers in ages birth up to eight years old in male and female division.  Judges for the Mr and Miss Firecracker competition were: Baylee McCoy(2012 Little Miss Spring City, 2014 Young Miss Spring City, 2017 Junior Miss Spring City, 2017, 2017 Strawberry Pageant and 2017 Young Miss Fairest of the Fair), Allison Varner(2015 Young Miss Spring City, 2016 Young Miss Fairest of the Fair and 2014 Young Miss Strawberry) and Abby Sattler(2015 Junior Miss Spring City and 2008 Young Miss Spring City).  Lilly Kate Lancaster was the emcee for the event.

During the day there were several vendors setup around the Veteran’s Park venue with plenty of offerings of food and beverages for the Shake the Lake crowd.  There were also vendors with different crafts as well as several local politicians.

Children took advantage of the play area with slides, swings and more for playing.  Some took a a trip just over the way to the splash pad.

After the pageant came the staples of the afternoon.  The pickle and watermelon eating contest pulled in a good amount of contestants and fans alike.  Later in the afternoon the duck race brought home winners with a Laz-Z-Boy chair being the big prize.

As darkness approached, the Rhea Springs Revival Band kept the crowd entertained until darkness arrived.  A very nice fireworks show finished off the day for Shake the Lake 2018.

Of course the Shake the Lake day could not have been possible without the many volunteers that made it possible.
