Lesley is a very humble and quiet young lady, who does express herself when necessary with charm and professionalism. She was flawless during her interview as she recounted her appreciation of the honors she recently earned. She also talked about how her older sister Kiley, a runner also, was responsible for getting her involved in running. It did not take long for her to fall in love with running. You have to believe that, because running is for many athletes, a necessary evil that enables them to be better at their sport. Running as a sport requires a special dedication as when you are out on the course in cross country, it is you that is delivering the motivating speech. There are not huge crowds and accolades that go out to many in other sports.
Lesley is a plodder in a sense. But she is a a very fast plodder. She will tell you she has no kick. So she plans the race and knows she must keep the leaders in sight and just keep applying the pressure.
Lesley has already made her decision where she will be running next year. She has made commitment to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is excited about the choice and will be doing an official signing at a later date.
Lesley said, “I loved the coach and the teammates. Their coach has such a positive and Godly mindset. I wanted to be part of that. I would run for something that is bigger than myself.”
