State Wrestling Tournament scheduled to begin on Thursday

Chattanooga, TN —  Rhea County High School Wrestling team advanced three wrestlers to the State Tournament with their performances at Region 4AAA Tournament held at East Hamilton High School  near Chattanooga.  Advancing to the State Tournament were Jay Graham(152 lb weight class), Garrett Smith(220 lb weight class) and Andreas Velasco(170 lb weight class).  Jay Graham finished 2nd, Garrett Smith finished 3rd and Andreas Velasco finished 4th to advance to State Tournament held on February 16th – 18th at the Williamson Co. Expo Center in Franklin, Tennessee.  Division 1 AAA competition begins on Thursday at 3:00 pm.  See bottom of article for full schedule.

Jay Graham came into the Region Tournament as highest ranked Eagle wrestler with a # 2 ranking with his 14-1 record.  Garrett Smith had a 10-1 record and a # 4 ranking in this class that was loaded with talent.  Eagles had 10 wrestlers wresting at Region.  Check below for individual wrestler results.

Bradley Central edged out Cleveland 220.5 to 213.5 to win the Region.  Rhea County finished sixth at Region.
