September 2018

Dayton, TN —  Rhea County High School Senior Sarah Edwards is ranked # 22 for the State of Tennessee for United States Tennis Association(USTA).  Awesome for this Junior Tennis player for the Rhea County Lady Eagles.  She recently won a Level “3” doubles tournament at Baylor with Chattanooga Christian School teammate Olivia Underwood and finished third in singles.

Sarah has been the top player for the Lady Eagles since her sophomore year.  In her school career between 7th and 11th grade, Sarah has amassed a record of 54 wins and 13 losses.  Her record in middle school was 19-1.  Sarah was 13-5 in singles in 2017 and teamed with Madison Martin for a 9-1 record.  Her Freshman year playing as # 2 position mostly she had a 12-3 record, her best at Rhea County so far.

A previous teammate of Sarah’s, Lexi Bowman was #19 in 2013 (between 9th and  10th grade) in USTA Girls 16’s.  Sarah’s division was 18 and under.  Sarah still has a senior year to play for the Lady Eagles in the Spring.

Sarah’s High School Coach Lil Andrews said, “This is all part of the “family dynasty” in tennis.  The Hurst twins, Garrett and Brett, are following the tennis path in middle school now, and the older cousin, Dylan Coulter, was the one who started the family trend–Dylan was TSSAA district and region finalist in 2011 (don’t know his USTA records.”
