Rhea County Eagles leave door open for Pioneers

Despite leading the majority of the game, Rhea County Eagles slip in final minute, 62-61.

This game shows us what we need to work on and get better. We had a bunch of kids that took care of business. Every game we play is a learning experience.

Two 3 pointers by Logan Hunter and one from Bryan Harrison position Rhea County to take the lead early in the 1st quarter, 18-17.  Noel Patterson led the charge in the 2nd quarter with 6 points to give Rhea County a 28-19 advantage with 3:30 left in the half.   Warren County rallied to close the half at a 3 point deficit, 32-29.

Noel Patterson took control with 8 of his 26 points coming in the 3rd quarter.  A tenacious Eagle defense that held the Pioneers to 13 points in the 3rd had things looking good going into the final quarter, 49-42 Eagles.  Rhea County could not close the deal however, and the Pioneers found a way to win in the closing minute, 62-61.

Coach Phillips says, “In the 2nd half they made an adjustment, and we never found an answer.  This game shows us what we need to work on and get better.  We had a bunch of kids that took care of business.  Every game we play is a learning experience.”
