Roane County’s Clark hits buzzer shots at end of game and overtime 77-75
Evensille, TN — Jordan Wilkerson went for career high 40 points but it was not enough as Rhea County dropped the game to Roane County 77-75 in overtime. Rhea County was looking to revenge their loss to Kingston in December Holiday tournament in Harriman 56-51. Regrreftully for the Eagles they could not hold off the Jackets for the win.
Wilkerson and Taylor hit three pointers to help Eagles to early 8-4 lead. Later Wilkerson came up with steal and coast to coast basket to put Eagles up 17-9. Another steal, and coast to coast by Wilkerson put the Eagles up 21-14, a lead they took to end of quarter. Wilkerson and Guthrie tallied 10 and 6 points to lead Eagles in first quarter scoring.
Early in second quarter, Drake Taylor punched the ball out at head of key and headed down court for easy layup but he heard Wilkerson ask for the backboard and laid the ball up for the setup for a fantastic Wilerson dunk that put Eagles up 26-16. Wilkerson went back outside for another of his nine three point makes on the night to give Eagles 29-16 lead, but Jones answered with a three for Roane County to keep the margin at 10. Roane County came back to close gap to 34-29 before last minute three pointer and two pointer by Kannon Oggs pushed halftime margin to 38-19.
Roane County outscored Wilkerson 12-4 early in third quarter to cut lead to 43-41. Clark and Luttrell accounted for 18 of the 21 points for Roane in the third quarter that put Roane County only down 52-50 at end of three.

Eagles took 68-65 lead into last few seconds and then set about fouling to keep the Jackets from getting off a tying attempt. Eagles only had two fouls going into last seconds so they had plenty to give before Roane would shoot. After three fouls, the Eagles did not whittle enough time off the clock and Clark had enough time to get off the game winning 3 just before the buzzer sounded and regulation ended 68-68.
In ovetime a couple fo Eagle turnovers helped Roane take a 73-68 lead early. Eagles came back and Wilkerson’s last 3 of the night made the score 73-72 with time winding down in the overtime. Late in game, Eagles took 75-74 lead on an elbow three by Drake Taylor with only seconds remaining. Roane came down and it was again Clark, this time almost at half court with the heave that banked off the boards and through the net to give Roane County the improbable 77-75 win.
