Rhea County Splits with Sale Creek, Cookeville

Crossville, TN — Rhea County basketball teams head on the road today to play Stone Memorial as they come down the home stretch in league play for the 2018-19 season. The Lady Eagles sit in third place in district, while Eagles sit in fourth place in the league with three games remaining.

Last week the team split two games with wins over Sale Creek and losses to Cookeville. On Tuesday, they traveled to Sale Creek and Lady Eagles came away with 77-35 win with a 35-5 run fueling the outcome. The Eagles won 54-47.

On Friday, the Lady Eagles battled but Cookeville held on for 52-48 win and Eagles were close early before a run by Cookeville led to a 79-46 win. With the district losses the Lady Eagles district record goes to 2-3 with three games remaining. The Eagles’ district record goes to 0-5.

On Thursday night the Eagles and Lady Eagles travel to Stone Memorial for games that begin with 7 pm EST game time with Lady Panthers. On Friday Rhea County travels to McMinnville for games with Warren County. Next week the Eagles and Lady Eagles end the season at home vs White County.

Stone Memorial leads the district with 4-1 record, followed by Cookeville at 4-2 on ladies side. Cookeville leads boys’ district at 5-1, followed by Stone Memorial at 4-1 and White County at 3-2.

The district tournament will be held at Stone Memorial High School between February 12th to 19th.
