Eagles and Lady Eagles win against Chattanooga Patriots

Evensville, TN —  Rhea County Basketball teams won last night against the Chattanooga Patriots.  The Lady Eagles won the opening Varsity game 52-8 and the Eagles won 78-45.

The Lady Eagles won handily against the Lady Patriots.  Rhea County won every quarter on their way to their 52-8 win.  Scoring for the Lady Eagles:  Wallis 17, Levi 13, Revis 4, Bustos 3, Keen 2, Morgan 2,  Brown 2.  Wallis was 6 of 11 and Levi 6 of 8 from the field.  Hope Baker had 6 steals to lead the Lady Eagles defense.    Morgan and Thurman each had 5 rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles.

Eagles begin slow finish fast

The Chattanooga Patriots jumped on the Eagles, scoring the first 11 points as Lee Hill put the Eagles on the board at 11-2 with a basket at the 5:35 mark of the first quarter.  The Eagles began to heat up and with 41 seconds left in the quarter it was Downey from the corner with a three to give Rhea County its first lead 17-14.

The Patriots were held scoreless from the 3:26 of first until they scored with 6:12 left in the half to cut the Eagle lead to 23-17 but Patriots came back with another 11-0 run to take the 26-23 lead.  The Eagles battled back and trailed  30-29 at the half.

The Eagles climbed the Hill in the third quarter.  Lee Hill was unstoppable around the basket with 13 points as the Eagles put up a 26-7 third quarter to take a commanding 55-37 lead at the end of three.  The 4th quarter was another 10 point performance by Hill(23 in the 2nd half) and the Eagles went on to a 78-45 win.  It was “Big Man” night for the Eagles as the Post scored 58 points between Hill, Downey and Hall.

Scoring:  Hill 34,  Downey 12, Hall 12, Pugh 7, Hunter 7, Robinson 3, Patterson 2, Loden 2.
