Eagles and Lady Eagles win by Haywood at Hall of Fame Tournament
Crossville, TN — Rhea County High School Basketball edged the Haywood teams from Memphis Tennessee twice on Saturday with Eagles picking up 80-75 win and Lady Eagles picking up 47-46 win.

Micah Black and Haley Cameron scored 7 and 5 points respective to push Lady Eagles to 12-3 lead with just over 4 minutes left in first quarter. Haywood went on 7-0 run to cut deficit to 12-10 with 1:30 to go in first quarter. One more basket by Lady Eagles made it 14-10 at end of first quarter.
About a minute in, Memphis University signee, Jamirah Shutes nailed a corner 3 to cut the Lade Eagle lead to 14-13. Teams swapped baskets through the next few minutes with Haywood taking 21-19 lead late in first quarter. Mallory Hampton found Mariah Martin under the goal with nice pass to give Lady Eagles 23-21 lead late in first quarter and that score stood at the half.
Micah Black led the charge out of halftime with 7 points to push the lead to 31-21 early in third quarter. Mallory Hampton scored 6 on next 8 points and assisted Maddie Smith and Haley Cameron to push the Lady Eagle lead to a 41-25 that ended up 41-28 at end of third. Lady Tomcats came back with big 4th quarter charge to cut the lead to 46-44 late in the quarter. Haywood put up three shots for possible tie but each fell away to keep the Lady Eagle lead. Haywood made a free throw with one minute left in game to pull within one and then came up with steal to give a chance for taking the lead. Teams traded free throws to make the score 47-46 and a desperation 3 feel short and Lady Eagles had nice win over a good Haywood team.
Micah Black and Haley Cameron led the team with 18 and 17 points respectively. Mallory Hampton added 6 points and Maddie Smith and Mariah Martin each totaled 2 points, while Sydney Jenkins added 1 point. Jamirah Shutes led Haywood with 18 and Laquita Calloway added 15.

Eagles 80-75 over Haywood
Jordan Wilkerson(10) and Guthrie(6) had 16 of the first 18 points for the Eagles as they took the 25-23 first quarter lead. Tomcats came back with a 20-14 advantage in second quarter to take 43-29 halftime lead.
In the third quarter the Tomcats pushed the lead to 61-47 with 2:26 left in third quarter and Eagles cut lead to with 61-54 thanks to late Wilkerson three point make.
Jordan Wilkerson had 11 of first 13 points of last quarter to pull Eagles within 69-65 with just over 4 minutes remaining. It was Laws, Guthrie getting Eagles close and Kannon Oggs with the 3 point basket to give the Eagles lead 72-70 with 2:54 left in the game. Oggs drove for basket at one minute mark to give Eagles 78-73 lead. Eagles got rebound on next Tomcat miss and controlled game with 33 seconds left in game. But Eagles missed shot with 29 seconds left and fouled on rebound. Tomcats hit both free throws to pull within 78-75 with 29 seconds left in game. After playing keep away for about 15 seconds, Ricky Guthrie streaked to an unguarded baskets and was fouled with 8 seconds left in game. Guthrie made both shots and Eagles held on for 80-75 win.
Jordan Wilkerson had 29 points and 6 threes to lead the Eagles and Ricky Guthrie had 22 points with some nice plays inside. Kaleb Laws was very active around the basket with 13 points and Kannon Oggs added two 3 points baskets in his 8 point total. Mat Levi(3), Gavin Stewart(3) and Mason Reynolds(2) finished up the scoring.
