Golden Eagles are set to play a number of scrimmages before the season begins
The first scrimmage will be at home against Signal Mountain at 6pm tonight. Signal Mtn will be a good measuring stick to see where this team stands. Signal dominated the Dist 7-AA district last season going 5-0 in district play and 8-4 overall.
We’d like to see a good crowd at all these scrimmages.
Mark Pemberton – Head Coach Golden Eagles
Tonight’s scrimmage should allow Rhea County players and coaches to see how they’re measuring up after a lot of hard work in the off-season and summer practices.
By scheduling a total of 4 scrimmages with teams such as Signal Mountain, it appears that’s just what Pemberton had in mind.
“We’ve tried to find good competition,” says Rhea County Head Coach Mark Pemberton.
Other scrimmages set for the pre-season are all away. The next being Cleveland which is set for next Tuesday (Aug. 12), Lebanon next Thursday (Aug. 14) to be played in Cookeville at TTU (tentatively), and then the last scrimmage will be played at Lenoir City (Aug. 18) two days after the Jamboree at UTC (Aug. 16).
This pre-season schedule is a tough gauntlet to run through. Especially given the 4 out of the first 5 games will be on the road, beginning with Coffee County on Friday, August 29.
Coach Pemberton is encouraging all Golden Eagle Fans and supporters to come out and support Rhea County.
“We’d like to see a good crowd at all these scrimmages,” says Pemberton.
Tonight will be the best opportunity for you to come out and see Rhea County on the field. The next time they play on Bill Horton Field will be September 12th against Walker Valley.
