Evensville, TN —  Miranda Hamby, a former Rhea County Lady Eagle, graduate in 2008, and Tennessee Wesleyan(2012 graduate) softball player will be the new Rhea Middle softball coach.  Hamby will also assist Randy Mathis at Rhea County High School.  Mathis and Hamby could be in opposing dugouts as Mathis will continue as Spring City Middle School softball coach.  Hamby played primarily catcher in her days at Rhea County High School and Tennessee Wesleyan.  Hamby is an English teacher at Rhea County High School.

Hamby’s first order of business was to set tryouts for the middle school team on July 9th and 10th(if necessary) from 6 to 8 pm at the Rhea County High School softball field.  Players must have up-to-date physical to try out and should bring proper clothes and equipment.

Rhea County Athletic Director Jeremy Fitzgerald said, “We are excited to have Myranda on board.  We like having both middle school coaches working together at the high school.  Should help that players will already know the coaches when they arrive at the high school.”
