5k Run for Fun and Walk for Life
The Women’s Care Center of Rhea County had a very successful Saturday morning with the “5k Run for Fun” and their annual “Walk for Life” combined events. This was the first “5k Run For Fun” and with over 200 participants, it appears the event is will return next year. Runners were doused with colored powder as they crossed finish line. Following the run, the annual “Walk for Life” also had 200 participants which raised over $27,500 for the Women’s Care Center. Lenita Sanders – Women’s Care Center
Lenita Sanders, director of the Women’s Care Center, says “Whatever the need is we want to walk along with that mother during that pregnancy. We want her to know that we are here for her. We also go into schools and teach a ‘risk-avoidance’ class that encourages abstinence.” You are encouraged to visit the “Edge on Life” website, which promotes healthy lifestyles and healthy choices for young people.
Saturday’s event was a tremendous success for the Women’s Care Center. The funds raised will be well spent and enable the agency to continue to provide support and awareness for our community and the surrounding communities.
