While many Red Cross employees and volunteers from the Southeast Tennessee Chapter are deployed to Louisiana’s flooding emergency, local disaster volunteers are still on the job in this area.

Pictured above, Brenda Davis of Spring City and Justin Brinkmeyer of Cleveland are shown consulting with Scott Wilson of the Graysville Volunteer Fire Department who had been responding to a house fire Sunday morning.

The fire was electrical causing the meter to have to be removed from the mobile home.

Red Cross assisted three individuals displayed by the fire. Earlier this week, Davis and Tom Mainor of Dayton assisted a Spring City individual who lost their home in another fire.

For Brenda Davis, volunteering for the Red Cross is a labor of love for others and the community.

“I have found my work to be rewarding in helping individuals during crisis times in their lives, also an opportunity to meet others who have hearts to serve others in the community and other areas of the country as needed,” said Davis who serves as the Rhea Community Volunteer Lead.

If you have a heart to serve, Davis says it’s easy to get started.

Visit RedCross.org, call the Chattanooga office at 423 591-6879, or contact Brenda Davis directly.
