Local Lawmakers Announce Archives Development Grant for Rhea County Archives

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) said today that they have been informed by Secretary of State Tre Hargett that the Rhea County Archives will receive an archives development grant.

The $5,000 grant will be used for supplies, shelving, and preservation of historical public records.

“This grant recognizes Rhea County Archives outstanding effort to preserve the history of the county,” said Senator Yager.  “It has been said that the next generation won’t know the history of Rhea County unless someone tells them.  We are indebted to the members of the Rhea County Archives for their work to make sure the county’s story is passed on.”

“The preservation of the proud history and heritage of Rhea County is a worthy cause and I was pleased to support these efforts,” added Representative Travis. “I’m grateful these funds have been made available to provide this outstanding resource for our community.  I also congratulate our local officials for their work in helping to secure these funds.”
